Why Fruit Juice Business in Nigeria?
Fruit juice is in the category of food drinks. Considering its enormous
health benefits, especially if its fresh, demand is on the high side while the
supply is low. What I mean is that in Nigeria, the rate of production of fruit
juice does not meet up the rate of demand for it. In Nigeria the market for
this product is still untapped to its fullest.
On March 27, 2013, the Hon Minister of Agriculture and Rural
Development in his statement revealed that “Nigerianspends over $1billion fruit juice importation every year”. The major
suppliers being Coca Cola and other related food drink companies from Asia. It
is of recent that a newly established fruit drink company Chi Limited came up with brands of
fruit drink to supplement the high demands from foreign suppliers. Yet, the
market is still unsaturated because of the increasing population of people in
the country.
Why People Like Fruit Juice
Nowadays, a lot of people are aware of the enormous health benefits
bestowed on fruit drinks. Apart from being a source of essential vitamins and
mineral, fruit drink acts at a taste quencher. Consider a tropical country like
Nigeria, fruit juice demand is very high especially during the dry season when
is served cold.
